Legal Researcher (Short Term Contract)

The Commission is seeking a legal researcher to assist with the second part of its extensive examination of Saskatchewan mortgage law, which includes a historic survey of statutory provisions affecting mortgages enacted since 1905 and the identification of sources (Hansard, newspaper reports, etc.) that provide background to or explanations of the legislation and its changes. Identification of parallel legislation in neighboring provinces will also be required.

Candidates must have a law degree, and preferably experience in mortgage law.  Research experience is required.

It is expected that work on this part of the project will take approximately 50 hours. The Commission would like the work to be completed within three months of hiring. Compensation will be negotiated based on experience. This position is not limited by geography, although some travel to the Legislative Library in Regina should be expected.

The researcher will work under the direction of the Director of Research and will report to the Commission.

For more information, or to apply with a resume and cover letter before Friday, November 8, 2013, please contact Reché McKeague, Director of Research.
